Our Climate Action Framework
The school’s commitment to sustainability is embedded in our strategy. One of our four key values is sustainability and our aspiration ‘to play a positive role in encouraging and enabling futures in which our activities thrive in harmony with our environment and are mindful of reducing our environmental impacts’. Getting around Bath
Bath is a very compact city and so is suitable for walking around the town. There is also an excellent and convenient public transport network of buses. Below we detail various ways you can get around. For more detailed travel advice, please have a look at our website here.
It is possible to walk from the city centre to the University. However, be prepared to tackle the very steep hill!
Public transport is well set up in Bath and we would always recommend using it to fit in line with our sustainability policy and climate action framework.
Train
Bath’s main railway station is Bath Spa. There is a taxi rank outside the station, where you can get a cab to the University campus. The journey will take around 10 minutes.
Bus
You can get to the campus from Bath city centre on the following bus routes:
- U1
- U2
- Service 20
- Service 22
The main university bus stop (Arrivals Square) is directly opposite the School of Management building.
Find out more about getting here by bus.
During the summer months, buses run every 15 minutes between the centre of Bath and the University. Customers can pay on the bus with a contactless debit card/mobile device, or buy tickets in advance using the First Bus app. Timetables can be found here, or accessed in the First Bus app.
The nearest bus stops from the city centre (catch the U1 to the University of Bath) are:
- Railway station – located opposite the station
- DoubleTree by Hilton– adjacent to Bath Abbey
If you’d prefer to pre-book a taxi, you can call Veezu on 01225 46 46 46. Ubers also operate in the city.
Staying on campus
The University’s Claverton Down campus is located a short bus ride from the city centre. We would suggest staying on campus to minimise your carbon footprint.

All of our on-campus accommodation boasts en-suite shower facilities.
You can also access the swimming pool and Sports Training Village for a small charge.
Eating and drinking on campus
The University campus has many restaurants, cafés and bars, to cater to every taste. We have a range of vegetarian and vegan options and our food always fits into our sustainability framework.
We always ensure:
- Seasonal food focus
- Sustainably sourced fish
- Reducing food waste
- Minimising packaging
- Reducing meat consumption (particularly ruminant meat)
Please note that we do not accept cash in any of our catering outlets or shops on campus. Most major debit or credit cards are accepted (not Amex).
Some of the main on-campus outlets include:
- The Pavilion Café – located in the School of Management building (10E)
- 4 West Café – located on the West side of campus
- Lime Tree restaurant – the main ‘canteen’ on campus, with a bar, pizza kitchen and café. This is located near the bus stop
- Sports Café – in the Sports Training Village
