This session will focus on effective managerial practices to manage the physical space and its community and shape the co- evolution between the open labs and their ecosystems to support entrepreneurs, start-ups and innovation.
David W. Versailles, Professor of Strategic Management at Paris School of Business
David W. Versailles is Full Professor of Management at Paris School of Business. He lectures in strategic management, business strategy, business modelling and business intelligence in PSB Master programs. His research interests locate at the intersection between strategic management, industrial organization and innovation management.
His experience includes principal investigation for multidisciplinary studies, R&D and innovation strategy-making, science management, research supervision (social sciences), project management for R&D multidisciplinary projects, and expert working for top management executives.
David W Versailles and Valérie Merindol co-head the newPIC chair (new Practices for Innovation and Creativity) at Paris School of Business. They have developed several research projects (incl. action research) about open labs and open innovation labs over the last 10 years. These projects were commissioned by the French governmental agency Bpifrance, French local and regional governments, and universities.
Valérie Merindol, Professor at Paris School of Business
Valérie Mérindol is Full Professor of Management at Paris School of Business. She lectures and develops her research in innovation management, creativity management, and knowledge management.
Her experience incluces principal investigation for research projects in management and in political science, R&D and innovation strategy-making, and research supervision. Valerie Merindol is also active as expert and advosor for strategic decision makers in the domain of R&D public policies.

Andrea Kelly, Innovation Centre Manager at SETsquared (TBC)
Andrea manages the University of Bath Innovation Centre, home of SETsquared incubation, which provides world-leading incubation support services, enterprise activities and access to investment networks for the growth and success of new business.
This involves the delivery of programmes being led by the University of Bath or in partnership with various stakeholders across the West of England Combined Authority region including SETsquared Hydrogen and Sustainable Transport Economy Accelerator; START. which is fully-funded to give entrepreneurs the fundamentals on how to run a business and turn their tech-based business idea into a reality; and the FWD project for moving skills, talent and business forward.
Alessandro Giudici, Reader in Strategy at Bayes Business School
Alessandro Giudici is a Reader in Strategy, Head of the Strategy Group, and Director of the Modular Executive MBA at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass). He serves as elected senator on the Senate of City, University of London, and its Academic Governance and Nomination Committee, and he is a member of Bayes’ Board of Studies. He is also an Associate Research Fellow in Digital Social Innovation at the University of Ca’ Foscari (Venice, Italy), a Visiting Research Fellow in Impact Innovation at ALTIS – Catholic University of Milan (Milan, Italy), and a member of the PhD board at University La Sapienza (Rome, Italy). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Freeman of the City of London, and a member of the Company of Communicators.
In April 2020, he was included in Poets & Quants’ prestigious list “Top 40 Under 40 Business School Professors” with the highest number of nominations on record. In November 2020, he was awarded the ASFOR-Spina Award for “Best Under 40 Italian Business Professor”. In 2018, he was awarded the university-wide “President’s Award for Excellence in Learning & Teaching” at City, University of London. In 2014, he was awarded the ‘Commendation for Excellence in Teaching & Learning’ by Bayes Business School (formerly Cass).
Alessandro’s research investigates the processes through which innovation can be facilitated in entrepreneurial ecosystems mainly from the perspective of ‘pro-social’ intermediary organizations such as (corporate and non-corporate) incubators, accelerators, venture associations, government agencies, etc. He also works on business models, particularly if digitally-enabled and/or for social innovation in emerging economies (Sub-Saharan Africa, especially), and on corporate innovation. His work has been published in the Academy of Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, Business History, Industrial Marketing Management, Long Range Planning, and Strategic Organization.
