Getting To Florence and to the campus

How to reach Florence

Getting to Florence is easy as the city is a logistics node in Italy, with well-developed communication networks.

By plane:

The Airport of Florence “Amerigo Vespucci” is the most convenient and closest airport. It is directly connected to major European airport hubs and it is located a few kilometers from the city center and close to the School of Economics and Management (only 2 tramway stops – 10 minutes).

The Airport of Pisa “Galileo Galilei” gives additional choice of direct flights (it is the main hub for low cost flights). Pisa airport is well connected to Florence by direct bus or trains which leaves from Pisa airport.

There are also other possible airports close to Florence, which includes Bologna, Milan and Rome.

By train:

The main railway station in Florence is the station of Santa Maria Novella. It is used by 59 million people every year and is one of the busiest in Italy. It is very well connected with the other Italian cities by fast trains. Bologna is only 40 minutes; Rome is 90 minutes; Milan is 110 minutes; and Venice is 2 hours and 15 minutes away.

How to reach the campus

The location of the conference is the

University of Florence, School of Economics and Management, Via delle Pandette, 9, IT-50127 Firenze FI

By tramway

You can easily reach the Conference venue by Florence public tramway: the University Campus is located on the T2 line of the tramway, at the stop “San Donato Università”.

The T2 line also connects the Florence Airport with the Florence Railway Station (and the Florence city center). Tramway is open everyday from 05.00 AM to 12.30 AM and there is a ride each 4-10 minutes maximum.

You can buy tickets at any tramway stop (at the automatic vending machines) at € 1,70 for a 90 minute ride. For any further info about Florence Tramway please click HERE.

By bus

There are also bus lines from the city center that go in the direction of “Novoli campus – University”. The numbers that identify these lines are 22, 23 and 57.

By taxi

A taxi should cost around 12-20 EUR. Ask to go to the “University of Florence – Polo di Novoli” main entrance. Once you arrive, look at the indications for the buildings D4; D5 and D6.

Although the situation is changing rapidly in the direction of the spread of digital payments, in Italy taxis in many cases only accept cash payments. The taxi numbers are: 055 4242 and 055 4390. You can also use the apps IT taxi, AppTaxi and Taxi Move.
