Soon after, we invite you to submit a paper to the <a href=\"https:\/\/conferences.euram.academy\/2022conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EURAM 2022 Conference<\/a> paper submission by <strong>11 January 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For PhDs who wish to apply for the <a href=\"https:\/\/conferences.euram.academy\/2022conference\/doctoral-colloquium-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EURAM Doctoral Colloquium 2022<\/a>, you will have an extra week up to <strong>18 January<\/strong> to submit the necessary documents for this event and to receive personalised feedback on your research. To maintain the high quality of the exchanges, we also need the engagement of our colleagues to join us as mentors in Winterthur, Switzerland. Mine <strong>Karatas-Ozkan<\/strong>, Vice President Talent Development, tells us more in this newsletter about the ideal profile of PhD mentors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Let me re<span style=\"text-align: justify;\">mind you that our academy is active throughout the year with other initiatives. Those are perhaps less visible to conference attendees, yet they offer you other ways to be involved in the EURAM community. Members of the Executive Committee drive those activities:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Michael <strong>Morley, <\/strong>Editor-in-Chief of the European Management Review (EMR), and his co-editors have just published the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Issue of Volume 18 of our EURAM journal. We are also happy to share that the journal has recently reached an impact factor of 2.54.<\/li>\n<li>Panos <strong>Desyllas<\/strong>, EURAM Vice President Research Funding, has plans to organise a PDW on Pillar II of Horizon Europe, focusing on \u201cCluster Calls\u201d during the next EURAM conference in 2022. He tells us more about the event in this newsletter. He will also provide a summary of the last PDW which took place during the EURAM conference in 2021 discussing application strategies for grants of the European Research Council (ERC).<\/li>\n<li>Stefan <strong>G\u00fcldenberg<\/strong>, EURAM Vice President Practice, focusses his energy on the development and strengthening of ties with practitioners. One way to be part of the initiative is to submit a \u201cSPARK\u201d. Feel free to submit a 2-page summary of a research article for publication on the website and for wider outreach via social media. Those summaries will typically focus on the results, on why those results are important for practice and mention the reference to the full paper. Other parts, such as the methodology, can be stated in brief. SPARKS and other activities for practitioners are described in detail by Stefan in this issue of the newsletter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For now, I wish you a productive phase of getting your papers ready for January. Good science communication is decisive in how well a country and its people can prepare for and master crisis situations. In this light the Corona pandemic can be seen as a test case for dealing with the great challenges facing humanity ahead, such as managing migration or climate change.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We as EURAM see ourselves committed to develop and provide state-of-the-art management knowledge towards key decision makers. We do this via three main channels:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><strong>EURAM\u2019s Annual Conference: <\/strong>Since 2020, it is possible to purchase a special practitioner ticket for our annual conference or key parts of it or to take over a sponsorship role. Built on this, we are offering a practitioners experience\/path at our annual conference as well as various attractive opportunities for practitioners to engage in a valuable exchange with academia, such as the initiation of corporate research problem workshops, meet the academics, an academic buddy program, practitioner in residence for each SIG and much more. Within the next years, this should develop into a separate EURAM membership category for practitioners and a strong and scientifically engaged practitioners community within EURAM.<\/li>\n<li><strong>EURAM Labs: <\/strong>On the day before the official opening of each EURAM Annual Conference, EURAM Labs offer the possibility for practitioners to interact with researchers in a workshop like setting on current grand topics and challenges. At the 2021 Online Annual Conference we have run altogether eight EURAM Labs on topics like <em>\u201c<strong>The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on retailers and the changes in consumer behaviour\u201d, \u201cVocational Training and Youth Employability after the Covid 19 crisis\u201d <\/strong><\/em><strong>or<em> \u201cESG investing-the New Normal\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>EURAM Sparks: <\/strong>In addition EURAM has continued its efforts to establish the EURAM Sparks initiative: <a href=\"https:\/\/conferences.euram.academy\/sparks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EURAM Sparks<\/a>. EURAM Sparks is an open-access platform driven by the idea to widely spread the latest research findings from the EURAM community towards practitioners. Sparks are based on cutting-edge research of EURAM members published in academic journals, academic books or at academic conferences. Sparks are presented in their very essence, understandable and impactful for practitioners who are provided with practical solutions and recommendations at their fingertips.\u00a0A high-level Editorial Board ensures that each Spark contribution will be evaluated and only those having the potential to represent up-to-date scientific management knowledge and practical relevance will be published as EURAM Sparks. One of the primary triggers of this initiative is the observation that management research is not always receiving the level of public funding that it deserves. Compared to other social sciences, management research is often subject to the misconception that it can rely exclusively on funding from the industry. In practice, however, such funding is usually limited and can rarely fully support research on complex business issues involving different stakeholders. Through a series of initiatives, we aim to raise awareness and, hopefully, improve opportunities to conduct collaborative, funded research.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Funding Opportunities: Horizon Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>(a) Pillar I: European Research Council (ERC)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the last EURAM Annual Conference, we organised a PDW which focused on \u201cResearch Funding by the ERC\u201d. As part of the workshop, we invited ERC grant holders (Luis Diestre, Professor at IE University; Maria Rentetzi, Professor at Friedrich-Alexander-Universit\u00e4t), coordinators from ERC\u2019s office (Jerko Markovina, ERC coordinator of SH1 panel), former members of ERC\u2019s peer review panel (Ammon Salter, Professor at the University of Bath) and EURAM\u2019s current and past presidents (Kathrin M\u00f6slein, Professor at\u00a0Friedrich-Alexander-Universit\u00e4t; Thomas Durand, Professor at\u00a0Cnam). The speakers discussed:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The different types of grants, namely, starting, consolidator and advanced grants.<\/li>\n<li>How to design the proposed research to demonstrate rigour, feasibility, and significance.<\/li>\n<li>How to communicate the scholarly significance and societal impact to management and non-management evaluators.<\/li>\n<li>How to navigate the different stages of the evaluation process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to ERC\u2019s coordinator, ERC panel members are looking for proposals that address such questions as:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Does the project go substantially beyond the state of the art?<\/li>\n<li>Why is the proposed project important?<\/li>\n<li>Is it timely? (Why wasn&#8217;t it done in the past? Is it feasible now?)<\/li>\n<li>What&#8217;s the risk? Is it justified by a substantial potential gain? The Covid crisis is one example of such a problem, epitomizing \u00a0issues that are more \u00a0challenging, important, risky and radically uncertain than those classically considered in the decision The effectiveness of the value created could be reported by the measures that highlight prioritization choices influencing the way value is created. They serve as a sensemaking from a holistic standpoint. The relationship between investors and initiatives can improve boosting their impact on society. To do so, scholars mostly retrieve publications and metadata from either Scopus or Web of Science. Only a few bibliometric studies merge the two databases to conduct a single integrated analysis. Recent studies demonstrated the benefits of merging data from Scopus and Web of Science and presented methods for the merging. In this paper we build upon a recent method to simplify some of the key steps of merging datasets when using the R package Bibliometrix to perform bibliometric analyses. The result is a user friendly, accessible, three-step method that allows researchers to save time without compromising the integrity of the data, and the analysis. The researchers focused on how international work affects expatriates&#8217; well-being and career success after international assignments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Over 400 union members responded to the project&#8217;s latest follow-up survey, with 32 respondents also participating in interviews. The findings emphasized the extensive development of career capital (including self-confidence, competence and social networks) resulting from international experiences. In addition, the career success of assignees was more positive than commonly reported in earlier studies.
