are pleased to invite you to collaborate in the design of the programme by proposing topics and symposia for discussion for the 27<sup>th<\/sup> EURAM Annual Conference <strong>by 15 July 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/conferences.euram.academy\/2027conference\/home\/\"><strong>EURAM 2027 Conference<\/strong><\/a> will be held at the <strong>School of Business and Economics and the\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Department of Management &amp; Organisation of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), The Netherlands<\/strong><strong>, 22<\/strong><strong>-25 June 2027.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Our conference theme is<\/p>\n<h3>Rising Above<\/h3>\n<h5>Embracing Resilience, Reimagining History, and Rethinking Management for a Sustainable Future<\/h5>\n<p>Contemporary management research stands at a turning point. Many dominant theories of organisations, leadership, and governance were built on assumptions of stability, growth, and control\u2014assumptions increasingly challenged by ecological crisis, social inequality, geopolitical instability, and rapid technological change. While management scholarship has advanced efficiency and value creation, it has paid less attention to resilience, historical responsibility, and long-term sustainability. The task now is not simply to refine existing models, but to rethink the foundations of management theory.<\/p>\n<p>The theme of the European Academy of Management (EURAM) Conference 2027, \u201cRising Above,\u201d responds to this need. It invites scholars and practitioners to question inherited assumptions and imagine new ways of organising and leading amid persistent uncertainty. \u201cRising Above\u201d is not about optimism alone, but about transcending conceptual limits that constrain how management engages with today\u2019s grand challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands offers a powerful metaphor. Living largely below sea level, Dutch society has long faced water as both a threat and an opportunity. Through collective ingenuity\u2014building dikes, reclaiming land, and pioneering advanced water management\u2014it has demonstrated resilience as an ongoing, socially embedded process. This example inspires three interconnected priorities: embracing resilience, reimagining history, and leading toward sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>First, resilience means the capacity to adapt, innovate, and act decisively in crisis. As disruption becomes the norm, organisations must move beyond incremental change toward bold approaches to governance and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Second, \u201cRising Above\u201d calls for critical engagement with history. Management theories and practices reflect past power structures, including colonial extraction and exclusionary systems. Addressing these legacies is essential to aligning economic performance with ethical responsibility and inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the theme underscores sustainability. As climate change intensifies, traditional business models fall short. Management must be understood not merely as technical expertise, but as a moral and political practice shaping regenerative, just, and sustainable futures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Topics and symposia are submitted to one of EURAM\u2019s 14 Strategic Interest Groups.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Do not hesitate to contact the relevant Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Chairs by email. Information about the SIGs can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/admin.euram.academy\/uploads\/euram\/originals\/3054f815-4e8c-42ad-a56e-8626f8e55457.pdf\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-build-content\"><b>Word of notice: <\/b>Starting from EURAM 2027, the current <strong>SIG 09 OB &amp; HRM<\/strong> will be split into <strong>two separate SIGs<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SIG 08 \u2013 Human Resource Management<\/li>\n<li>SIG 09 \u2013 Organisational Behaviour<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"text-build-content\">Topics and symposia can therefore also be submitted to these two newly separated SIGs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Call for Topics<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Relevant topics comprise research questions, agendas, issues, problems, or aspects which relate to the conference theme or are normally included in the general programme of the conference (i.e., configuring the parallel sessions of the different Strategic Interest Groups [SIGs] of EURAM).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Click <a href=\"https:\/\/conferences.euram.academy\/2027conference\/responsibilities-of-topic-proponents\/\"><strong>here <\/strong><\/a>for more information on how to submit a topic proposal.
